FKS Course Structure and Content

Hosted in the simple-to-use Kajabi platform, this 6-module course is structured in a way that makes getting started easy, with each module focusing on different aspects of copywriting and client-getting.

FKS Course Layout

I’ll summarise what you get in each FKS module below:

Module 1: Getting Started as a Copywriter & Finding Clients

One of the best aspects of Mike’s course is that you get straight into getting started and finding high-paying clients.

Finding clients is one of the hardest aspects of copywriting and is likely the reason he started here first. Because despite what a lot of people tell you, you need to target prospective clients daily to get any traction, especially in the early stages of your career in copywriting. Learning excellent customer acquisition skills like those taught in this course will make your copywriting career much easier.

This module covers positioning, what to charge clients, outreach strategies, where to find clients, as well as basic sales training and social media profiles. Giving you the basic skills to charge higher fees with confidence.

I followed the advice in this module and picked up my first client within a week of sending 5-10 daily outreach emails, which I was over the moon with.

Module 2: Email Copy

Email copy is often touted as one of the simplest skills to learn and sell. The most I’ve charged for an email sequence came to £384 per hour, which isn’t bad by anyone’s standards!

However, starting out, you can easily earn £50 for a single email, which, with a bit of practice, would take you around the half-hour mark to write.

This module covers everything you need to get started in email copywriting and includes comprehensive guidance on how to craft high-converting emails and email sequences for the brands and clients that you want to work with.

Module 3: Sales Pages

This is a particularly long module because sales pages are notoriously difficult to write. Thus, the training needs to cover lots of bases to make sure you have the skills required to write one.

If you’ve never heard of a sales page before, it is basically a standalone web page designed to promote and sell a specific product or service.

Picture this: a catchy headline grabs your attention, and then you dive into all the juicy details about what’s being offered. You’ll find highlights of the coolest features, glowing testimonials from real users, and maybe even a snazzy video or two. The goal? To make you so excited that you just can’t wait to hit that big, shiny “Buy Now” button. It’s all about making things clear, convincing, and super easy so that you turn leads to sales.

Mike once again provides you with his go-to templates, research tips, and a swipe file, which contains a copy of all the best sales pages he’s come across over the years.

For the right brand, with the right product, you can easily charge north of £5k per project for a proper sales page, so if you enjoy writing (because they are often long), they are well worth learning.

Module 4: Landing Pages, Facebook Ads, Web Copy

A landing page is another type of dedicated webpage that is designed for a specific marketing or advertising campaign. It’s where visitors land after clicking on a link in an email, ad, or other digital source.

Unlike regular web pages, landing pages have a single focus and a clear call-to-action (CTA), such as “Sign Up” or “Download Now.” They feature targeted content relevant to the campaign and minimize distractions to keep visitors focused on converting. The primary goal of a landing page is to capture leads or drive a specific action, making it a powerful tool for marketers. They are easy to write and earn money from.

Facebook ads are just that, writing the copy that goes along with the creatives for Facebook ads. Again, they are easy to write and are quite a good earner. It’s also really easy to target potential clients, as you can see who is running ads through the Facebook Ad Library.

Web copy covers everything you need to write the copy for your own website or for clients.

Module 5: Advanced Client Getting and Equity Deals

Now that you’ve been through the other FKS modules, have a client or two, and have boosted your copywriting skills, let’s get more high-end clients and turn this into a successful business.

Mike covers everything in this module, from networking and building followers to closing more sales and commanding equity deals (money on autopilot).

Equity deals are when you write a piece of copy that you then get paid for again and again as it makes a sale for your client. Typical amounts are 5-20% of the sales price. So if your client sells a £1k course and you have a 10% equity fee setup, you’ll get paid £100. This is what Mike calls a business-less business.

The reality of equity copywriting is that it depends on the type of clients you sign as to if they will agree to give you an equity stake. In my experience, larger corporate clients would rather pay a one-off fee and be done with it (though they are willing to pay the high fees upfront). On the other hand, smaller businesses are more likely to agree to an equity deal and lower upfront fees.

He also goes on to discuss keeping clients long-term. The longest I’ve had a client for is two and a half years and the only left because their team was disbanded into another part of the company.

So, this module is invaluable for those who want to minimise the amount of client outreach that they need to do.

Module 6: The Coffee Shop Copywriter Lifestyle

Now that you’re a confident copywriter who signs high-value clients, it might be that you want to follow Mike’s passion for a life of freedom and work from places like local coffee shops.

This module covers his lifestyle, routines, best practices and what you need to do next to have a successful copywriting career.

The Templates: Are they worth it?

A big part of The Freedom Kickstarter course is access to the templates. These make it super easy for you to get started with writing any bit of copy and massively cut down the time needed to make progress.

One of the best things recently is that Mike has updated the course to include A.I. prompts that work with the templates. This means you can use artificial intelligence to generate ideas and phrases for your copy, saving you even more time and effort.

The templates themselves cover a wide range of copywriting needs, from sales letters and email sequences to social media posts and landing pages. They are designed to be easily customisable, allowing you to tailor them to your specific clients and target audience.

Not only do the templates provide a valuable starting point, but they also serve as a learning tool. By studying and analysing the templates, you can gain insights into effective copywriting techniques and strategies. This allows you to not only produce high-quality copy but also understand the reasoning behind it.

However, it’s important to note that the templates are meant to be a tool, not a crutch. While they can certainly expedite the copywriting process and give you utter confidence, it’s still essential to develop your own unique voice and style. Copywriting is about connecting with your audience and conveying your client’s message effectively, and relying solely on templates may hinder your ability to do so.

Ultimately, the value of the templates lies in how you utilise them. If you approach them as a starting point and use them as a foundation for your own creativity and expertise, they can be incredibly valuable. However, if you simply copy and paste without adding your own unique touch, your copy may come across as generic and lacklustre.

The Freedom Kickstarter Review – Is Worth It?

After reviewing the content and resources provided in The Freedom Kickstarter, it’s clear that Mike has created an incredibly comprehensive and valuable copywriting course that helps people lead amazing lives by writing words.

I personally know around 30 people who have taken the FKS course, changed careers and now live life on their terms, spending more time with their family and having the money to do the things that they want (within reason). Bonus points if you can spot me in the pic below…
