The 3 line follow-up is an effortless (some would say boringly basic!) way to follow up with those who have disappeared off the radar after making an enquiry or having a survey completed.
Following up with past leads, enquiries and prospects is one of the most potent ways of drumming up new business.
Whether you used PPC, organic social media, your website or another method – All leads have a cost. So, you should do your best to make sure you’ve utilised the leads you’ve paid for.
Yet hardly any business follows up enough times with their leads.

Follow-up To Boost Sales
The message I’m going to share works so well because it’s:
- Short
- To the point
- Quick to read
- Easy to understand
- Asks for a simple reply
All it’s designed to do is reopen the channel of communication.
Leads often drop off the radar or go quiet after receiving a quote because something else came up in life and became a priority.
Just because they never got back to you doesn’t mean they bought elsewhere, and it doesn’t mean they will never buy.
The majority of businesses fail in the follow-up. And the majority of business is found in following up!
By not following up, you are, without a doubt, leaving money on the table.
So, how does the 3 line follow-up work?
How the 3 Line Follow-Up works
You send the following message to your prospects as a text message, Whatsapp or email.
If you’re sending it by text or WhatsApp, you can ignore the subject line portion!
Yes, this sounds unbelievably simple and it is.
Let’s have a look at the message.
SUBJECT LINE: Quick question [FIRSTNAME]…
Hi [FIRSTNAME],
Are you still interested in [INSERT YOUR PRODUCT, SERVICE HERE]?
[YOUR NAME]
Examples of the 3 Line Follow-Up
Example 1
SUBJECT LINE: Quick question Aaron…
Hi Aaron,
Are you still interested in having solar panels installed?
Solar Shaun
Example 2
Hi Chris,
Are you still interested in having a survey for a heat pump?
Harry Heat
Example 3
Hi Kirstie,
Are you still interested in having an EV charger installed?
Evie Charger
I think you probably get the idea!
It seems simple, and it is!
The thing is, though, simple works.
What to do now
The 3 Line Follow-up message is a powerful way to reignite conversations with old leads.
All you need to do is send the message to those leads that got away.
As a bonus, if you’re using a CRM system, you can set up an automation to automatically send this message after 2 weeks of no response.
This means your CRM system automatically follows up on leads without you lifting a finger. Optimising the leads you’ve generated and converting more prospects to customers.
If you still get no response, I would send the message again after a month, then at 3 months and again at 6 months. You can safely say you’ve followed up if you still get no reply.
Hopefully, when the lead contacted you, you got them to opt-in to receive email marketing from you and your business.
This means that you can nurture them further by adding them to your email list and sending them weekly emails. If you’ve not got an email list and you’re not getting leads to opt into email marketing. You might want to address this as email marketing is still the No.1 way to make sales.
